How To Define Target Audience
I was doing a Facebook Live after a light bulb moment. I was lying in my bed and thought about why do I do my online business? Who do I want to help? What Is my brand? And how to brand my self properly? I must do something wrong. Sure, I have made a dollar here and a dollar there, but that’s it. I need to find out how to define target audience.
Know Your Why
The thing is that I started out too broad. I have been all over the place. No particular action plan. Sure, I know my why. It’s to make enough money for myself and enough to support my fiancee.
And I wish to make enough to give to charity. I wish to help people who struggling financially.
I know that I want to help other people to make money online and show them there is an alternative out there to the traditional 9 to 5.
Be Niche Specific
My website and my branding has suffering because of this. My niche was simply how to make money online. Way too broad.
If you have a too broad niche, you would probably do the same mistakes as I have done and promoted too many products to a wide range of people. Instead of providing a particular product to a specific group of people.
So I needed to dig deep inside my self and find some answers. Because this is crucial when it comes to your branding. It was after I have spent some time on Facebook and see how other people do things.
I mean, I had an idea of what my mistakes were, but not how to fix them properly.
How To Find Your Targeted Audience
So I did some more soul-searching.
- My why is to make more money and helping people to do the same.
- I achieve this through my targeted audience, but how to find my targeted audience?
What did I look for when I first started out?
- Ways to make money online
I needed the knowledge of how to make money online.
I had no idea were to begin, I had no technical skill, and basically no money.
Suddenly it strikes me. My targeted audience is me! I want to help people like my self! That’s my branding. Helping newbies to build their own business. Guide them in the right direction. That’s my goal. And my product and my website should reflect that.
- Why write about how to have the perfect home office?
- Why have an article about how to make money online through gambling?
Sure, it’s about how to make money, but if you are totally new to online business, you don’t care about which colors to use on your home office. You don’t care about learning Blackjack.
You care about how you can make money and how to achieving that goal. You care about residual income. You care about what kind of platform to use.
Those things will come naturally, but you need to focus on the basics first. It doesn’t matter how good the product you provide if you don’t represent it to your targeted audience. You don’t promote a $2000 camera to a professional guitar player.
- It doesn’t matter how informative your blog post is if your targeted audience doesn’t read it.
- It doesn’t matter if you have 300 unique visitors to your website daily if they don’t click on your links.
- It doesn’t matter how many people you reach out to if you don’t provide any value to them!
You need to find groups and people in your niche to guide you in the right direction.
I hope my soul-searching and my mistakes are an inspiration for you who read this. What is your biggest challenge in your business? What do you do to reach out to your targeted audience? Do you use social media? Paid advertising, your website? Maybe you combine your tools?
